The Gaylordsville Historical Society is a community organization dedicated to bringing together people interested in the history of Gaylordsville, Connecticut. It collects, preserves, and displays materials related to the area, and helps protect historic objects, buildings, and sites in and around the community. Through its programs and projects, the Society also encourages young people to take an active interest in local history.
Visitors can explore the Little Red Schoolhouse on Gaylord Road and Brown’s Forge on Brown’s Forge Road, both open on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. during July and August. The Society also arranges private and educational tours, with special tours available by request. Its website shares historical resources, including information about local cemeteries, burial names, the Merwinsville Hotel, and community reminiscences. The Society offers the updated book The History of Gaylordsville in hardcover and softcover editions, as well as a scholarship in memory of Allen S. Farnham. Its annual open house and image library provide further ways to discover and engage with the town’s heritage.
