GBR Blind Sailing is a registered charity that helps blind and partially sighted people experience sailing across the United Kingdom. Working with sailing schools, clubs and other organisations, it offers a welcoming route onto the water, whether someone is trying sailing for the first time or aiming to compete at national and international events.
The charity organises regular training sessions, sailing lessons and coaching for sailors at different levels. Novices can learn the basics with support, while more experienced participants can develop their skills and pursue competitive goals. No previous experience or personal equipment is needed to get involved.
Safety and inclusion are central to the charity’s activities. Its volunteers contribute both onshore and on the water, helping create a supportive environment for visually impaired sailors. Some volunteers are qualified through the Royal Yachting Association, and the charity also welcomes people interested in volunteering.
Through sailing, GBR Blind Sailing aims to offer participants freedom, enjoyment and opportunities to build skills, confidence and teamwork.
