Garden City Model Railroad Club

The Garden City Model Railroad Club is an incorporated society and registered charity based at Ferrymead Heritage Park in Christchurch, New Zealand. Established 40 years ago, the club welcomes park visitors to explore its permanent model railway layouts and museum displays, which trace the history of model railways. Visitors can see an HO/OO layout with 16.

5mm gauge track and an interactive N Scale layout, where trains run at the press of a button. Club members operate the HO/OO layout on most Sundays, and a new British-themed OO Scale layout is being built. The club’s layouts feature railway scenes from New Zealand, the United States and Australia, while members also model British, European and other international railways.

Open every day of the year except Christmas Day, the club offers visitors a chance to discover the hobby and its many scales and styles. It also provides a welcoming place for people of varied ages and backgrounds to share their interest, operate trains, develop modelling skills and learn from one another
