GC Team NZ is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts gym based at 250 Taniwha Street in Glen Innes, Auckland. Welcoming students from beginners to experienced grapplers, the gym aims to create a friendly, supportive environment where people can learn, improve and feel at home. Its training combines instruction, observation, practice, feedback and live training, with lessons intended to build skills on and off the mats.
Classes cater to children, teenagers and adults. Kids’ sessions introduce Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals in a fun setting, while adult and teen fundamentals classes teach the basics and prepare students for live rolling. Intermediate and advanced classes offer more experienced practitioners technical development and rolling drills. The gym also provides competition training for students preparing to compete.
Alongside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, GC Team NZ offers Muay Thai classes hosted by Tane Ngaronoa, a former K1 kickboxer and GC Team purple belt. The gym presents training as a way to develop fitness, flexibility, strength and self-defence skills, while fostering confidence, discipline and a sense of community.
