About Global Development Network
The Global Development Network (GDN) is a public international organization that supports high-quality, policy-oriented social science research in developing and transition countries. Its work aims to help promote better lives by strengthening the contribution of locally grounded research to development policy and practice. GDN’s current programs address subjects including biodiversity, doing research, digitalisation, evidence synthesis, fiscal policy, institutional research, migration, and Savoirs Sahel.
Through its programs, the organization provides opportunities for researchers and institutions to engage with development questions and research activities. Its wider initiatives include mentoring, awards competitions, an annual conference, and calls for participation, alongside completed programs and programme archives. GDN also shares knowledge and updates through resources such as working papers, annual reports, the GlobalDev platform, a blog, and the GDNews newsletter.
The organization has offices and contact locations in India, Europe, and the United States. By connecting research, policy-focused programming, and knowledge sharing, GDN works to support social science research relevant to development challenges
