Gecko on the Move (GOTM) is a UK-registered not-for-profit charity focused on improving access to quality mathematics education. Its work supports children and teachers in resource-constrained schools and communities, with a particular focus on East Africa. GOTM has worked in Tanzania, especially Mto Wa Mbu, since 2016, supports schools in Mombasa and along Kenya’s coast, and collaborates with Twende Education for All in Zambia.

The charity promotes hands-on learning through mathematics manipulatives, practical teaching tools that help students build conceptual understanding, confidence, and problem-solving skills. Its initiatives include supplying manipulative kits to schools, providing maths kits for children in hospital isolation, and sponsoring maths teachers in East Africa. GOTM also conducts training workshops beyond its main focus areas when specific needs arise.

Through partnerships, volunteering, and donations, the organisation aims to equip teachers, create stronger learning opportunities, and help children develop skills for academic success and everyday challenges. Its broader goal is to empower learners and contribute to brighter futures and stronger communities through mathematics
