GEEK Play is a festival and creative programme celebrating the inventiveness of games and the value of learning through play. First launched in Margate, Kent, in 2012, it has since appeared in more than 20 festivals and GEEK-Labs, with events and projects reaching locations including Singapore, Rochester and Beijing. Created by Houghton Kneale Design (HKD), GEEK provides a platform to explore games, test ideas and bring audiences into active participation.

The programme connects visitors with artists, teachers, game makers and producers through opportunities to meet, make and play. Activities range from creating games with cardboard and code to interactive exhibits, workshops, talks and artist commissions. GEEK also offers commissioning, residencies and funding opportunities, supporting site-specific work, partnerships, skills sharing and training.

Drawing on more than 40 years of experience in visitor engagement, the team develops playful experiences for museums, galleries, heritage sites and science centres. Its work combines creative and technical expertise to make complex ideas approachable, encourage curiosity and create memorable experiences for diverse audiences.
