Der Branchenverband gefma steht für einen Markt mit 152 Mrd. Euro Bruttowertschöpfung und mit einem Anteil am Bruttoinlandsprodukt von 4,52%. Er vertritt über 1000 Unternehmen und Organisationen des wachsenden Wirtschaftssektors Facility Management. Gut 44 Prozent der Mitgliedsunternehmen kommen aus dem Bereich der Facility-Management-Nutzer (z.B. Industrie, Banken & Versicherungen, Forschung & Entwicklung, Gesundheitswesen, Infrastruktur & Energie, Öffentlichen Sektor), 42 Prozent sind Anbieter von FM-Lösungen und etwa 14 Prozent der Mitglieder sind Young Professionals. Seit 1989 engagiert sich gefma im Facility Management für ein einheitliches Begriffsverständnis (Richtlinien, Benchmarking) und für Qualitätsstandards (Zertifizierungen: CAFM-Software Produkte, Nachhaltigkeit im FM sowie Aus- und Weiterbildung).
