Gems Educational Childcare provides early childhood care and education for children aged three months to six years across three centres in Queenstown’s Lake Hayes Estate and Shotover Country. Located close together between Queenstown and Arrowtown, Gems offers families a choice of settings, each providing the same high standard of care and curriculum, with differences to suit individual preferences and budgets.
The centres are Gems Miro on Onslow Road, Gems Rātā at Kawarau Park, and Gems Kōwhai on Stalker Road. Their environments include open spaces, indoor-outdoor access, imaginative play areas, and calm, welcoming spaces designed to support children’s exploration and development. Gems describes its approach as nature-focused and draws on the Pikler and Reggio Emilia philosophies, alongside its own learning principles. Children can take part in varied experiences, including creative, educational, active, and nature-based activities. The centres also provide meals, with a sample menu available to families.
Gems supports parents with enrolment enquiries, centre visits, videos, blog posts, and parent resources. Families can contact the team or enrol online.
