Gems Occupational Therapy

Gems Occupational Therapy is an Illawarra-based practice led by paediatric occupational therapist Lynette Cunynghame. Its guiding approach is to treasure each young person by recognising and nurturing their strengths, interests and individuality. Lynette works in partnership with children and families to support each child’s development and help them reach their potential.

The practice serves children and young people aged 0 to 21 with a range of disabilities, including intellectual delay, Down syndrome, global developmental delay, autism and learning disabilities. Services focus on play and engagement, self-care, life skills, fine motor development, written communication, handwriting, pre-writing skills, assistive technology and emotional regulation. Gems Occupational Therapy also aims to support a brighter future for children and teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds. Eligible clients can access services through NDIS funding.

Lynette also runs joint group programs with speech pathologist Larissa Forde, including social skills groups and sensory-based augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) groups. Families can contact the practice by email or phone to ask about services and programs.
