Genbukan

Genbukan Martial Arts Ireland offers traditional Japanese martial arts training focused on the art of the sword and the ancient practice of Japanese kobudo. The organisation welcomes people with a genuine interest in Japanese culture, history and the traditional teachings of kobudo, presented in what it describes as their purest form. Its classes are available in Cavan, Drogheda, Navan, Mullingar and Newry, serving students across these communities.

Genbukan Ireland provides martial arts instruction for both adults and children, with self-defence presented as an important benefit of training. For younger students, the organisation highlights discipline as a foundation for developing self-defence skills. Its guiding values are honour, loyalty and discipline, reflecting its emphasis on the traditional principles of martial arts and “the way of the masters.” Through its classes, Genbukan Martial Arts Ireland aims to connect practical training with the cultural and historical traditions behind Japanese kobudo, offering an opportunity to learn in a setting centred on respect for the art and its heritage.
