CompGen e.V. (the Association for Computer Genealogy) is a German nonprofit organization supporting family-history research through digital resources, shared knowledge, and community collaboration. Its Genealogy Network Portal brings together databases, guidance, projects, and communication channels for people exploring their ancestors and historical records. The portal provides access to more than 50 million person records drawn from diverse historical sources, with collections expanding through partnerships with associations, archives, researchers, and volunteer contributors.

Resources include historical address books, family notices, cemetery inscriptions, local family books, and searchable person records. CompGen also offers practical research advice, introductory genealogy information, and the GenWiki, where researchers share reference material. Members and visitors can connect through forums, mailing lists, meetings, and an event calendar, while project platforms support collaborative work and data collection.

The organization publishes the COMPUTERGENEALOGIE magazine quarterly and shares current news through the CompGen Blog and its weekly newsletter. CompGen invites interested people to contribute as volunteers, and membership helps sustain its ongoing work and growing collections.
