General Sense

General Sense develops a chemical-sensing platform that translates the canine sense of smell into real-time, actionable information. The company combines canine olfaction, hardware, and neural decoding to identify molecular signatures from freely moving dogs, aiming to make continuous detection deployable across a range of real-world settings. Its system is designed to detect multiple threats without relying on behavioral alerts or commands, while Vaporware OS serves as the mission-control platform behind detections.

General Sense applies its technology to security and defense, corrections, healthcare, and agriculture. Potential uses include identifying explosives, narcotics, and other chemical threats; screening facilities for contraband; supporting non-invasive detection of disease; and monitoring crops for disease, pests, invasive species, and contamination. The company describes its approach as a way to bring earlier, broader chemical monitoring to challenges where timely detection can improve outcomes. General Sense also shares research and perspectives on sensory intelligence and planetary chemical sensing, and invites organizations to discuss pilot projects addressing their detection needs.
