About CoRE Genomics for Health in Africa
CoRE-GHA, the Cluster of Research Excellence - Genomics for Health in Africa, is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to revolutionize healthcare in Africa by harnessing the power of genomics. Led by a team of esteemed researchers from Stellenbosch University in Africa and collaborating European Universities, CoRE-GHA focuses on studying rare diseases, familial cancers, infectious diseases, and pathogen-host genetic variation. By developing sustainable research capacity and infrastructure, CoRE-GHA empowers the African research community to leverage genomics for more precise prevention strategies, personalized treatment approaches, and precision medicine.
Through integrated genomics and protein structure-function studies, CoRE-GHA opens up new possibilities for addressing public health challenges in both Africa and Europe. This ten-year program, part of ARUA-The Guild, is set to run from 2023 to 2033, with a commitment to advancing healthcare through cutting-edge research and collaboration
