About Geoconservation
The Geoconservation Trust is a registered non-profit charitable organization established in 2020 to protect and promote Earth’s geological heritage. Committed to connecting geology with conservation, it focuses particularly on Aotearoa and the Pacific while fostering international partnerships and community participation. Its multidisciplinary team combines geological expertise, conservation management, and local delivery.
The Trust advances Earth-science education by supporting learning, research, publishing, and events in collaboration with individuals, organizations, and communities. It advocates for identifying, classifying, and recording significant geosites, particularly across the South Pacific. Through conservation geology consulting, it offers practical insights and solutions to help protect land and infrastructure and support education and enterprise.
The organization also builds connections across geology, biology, heritage, and society to encourage collaboration and shared opportunities. Its stated impact includes more than 50 sites protected, 10,000 people educated, and partnerships with over 25 organizations in 15 countries. The Geoconservation Trust welcomes collaboration with educational institutions, funding agencies, and conservation partners to help safeguard geological heritage for future generations.
