The Holy Cross Mountains Geopark is an association of five municipalities—Kielce, Chęciny, Morawica, Nowiny and Piekoszów—working to protect and promote the region’s geological, natural and cultural heritage. Its 526-square-kilometre territory holds international recognition as a UNESCO Global Geopark and forms a shared destination for visitors interested in the area’s distinctive landscapes and history.
The association supports local communities in developing geotourism, builds partnerships across local and international networks, and provides opportunities for natural and cultural education. It also promotes cooperation with scientific, business and nonprofit organisations, while raising awareness of the UNESCO Global Geopark idea.
Visitors can explore information about geological sites such as former quarries, mountains, springs and rock formations, alongside castles, churches, historic estates and technical monuments. Nature resources cover local flora and fauna, reserves, landscape parks and Natura 2000 sites. The website also features routes, maps, events, news and practical visitor information, including accommodation and dining. Geotourism publications and events, such as GeoFestival Kielce, further introduce the region’s attractions.
