About George Ronald Books
George Ronald Books is a publishing brand that was founded by David Hofman in 1943. The brand's mission was to provide a wider range of literature on Bahá'í subjects to readers. Initially, George Ronald Books started with occasional publications, but in 1947, after consultation with Shoghi Effendi, the Guardian of the Bahá'í Faith, and the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of the British Isles, the brand became a full-time business.
Despite facing challenges during its early years, including post-war paper rationing, George Ronald Books managed to survive with major commissions from Shoghi Effendi. Over time, the brand shifted its focus solely to books of interest to Bahá'ís under the guidance of Marion Hofman. It has published works by renowned authors such as Hasan Balyuzi, Adib Taherzadeh, and Ugo Giachery.
George Ronald Books continues to publish useful, authentic, and accurate Bahá'í books, expanding its variety of publications as the demand grows. Although it distributes its books worldwide, it remains a small business. The brand is recognizable by its original 'GR' colophon, crafted by the well-known potter and Bahá'í, Bernard Leach
