The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) is Saudi Arabia’s government authority for the surveying, geospatial information and related imaging sector, excluding activities under the Ministry of Defense. It works with relevant entities to regulate, develop, supervise and monitor the sector, promote quality and better performance, and protect security interests.
GEOSA provides services and resources for individuals, businesses, government agencies and academic institutions. Its National Geospatial Platform offers a unified gateway to national geospatial data and services, while the Digital Geospatial Services Portal supports online licensing, permits and requests for geospatial products. The Authority also licenses businesses conducting surveying and geospatial information activities and issues permits for aerial imaging, aerial surveying and hydrographic surveying.
Other offerings include the Official Map of the Kingdom, a digital library of geospatial references, a community platform for sector professionals and enthusiasts, and a sandbox for testing integrations with digital services. GEOSA also provides open geospatial data under an approved publication policy and invites proposals through its Innovative Ideas Platform.
