GeoVUsie is de studievereniging voor studenten Aardwetenschappen en Aarde, Economie en Duurzaamheid aan de Vrije Universiteit te Amsterdam. De vereniging werd in 1980 opgericht als fusievereniging uit het as van de G.V.V.U. (Geologische Vereniging Vrije Universiteit) en Varenius (Fysisch geografen-vereniging) en is sindsdien uitgegroeid tot een actieve vereniging met bijna 900 leden. GeoVUsie kent een aantal doelstellingen. De belangrijkste zijn een goede oriëntatie op het bedrijfsleven bieden en de sociale cohesie tussen de studenten te bevorderen. Om dit te bewerkstelligen organiseren het bestuur en de vele commissies een verscheidenheid aan activiteiten. Zo zijn er studiegerelateerde activiteiten, zoals lezingen, excursies en de tweejaarlijkse Aardwetenschappelijke Loopbaandag; maar ook minder inhoudelijke zoals sportactiviteiten, borrels en feesten.

About GeoVUsie
GeoVUsie is the student association for students of Earth Sciences and Earth, Economics and Sustainability at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Founded in 1980, it was formed through the merger of the Geologische Vereniging Vrije Universiteit and Varenius, an association for physical geographers. Since then, GeoVUsie has grown into an active community with nearly 500 members.
The association brings students together through a varied programme of social and academic activities. Events featured on its calendar include informal break-time gatherings, drinks, excursions, graduation celebrations, a clay evening with GeoCult, and activities connected with the Netherlands’ geological community. GeoVUsie also shares news and updates about the association and its events, and provides information for prospective members.
Students can contact the association’s board by email or visit its office at the university’s De Boelelaan address in Amsterdam. GeoVUsie maintains a presence on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and lists sponsors on its website. With its focus on connection and participation, the association offers Earth-related students opportunities to meet, take part in events, and engage with their student community.
