Gerd Ludwig is a renowned photographer with a diverse range of experiences and expertise. Born in Alsfeld, Germany, Ludwig studied photography for five years with Professor Otto Steinert at the Folkwang-Hochschule and graduated in 1974 with a degree in Photo Design. He co-founded VISUM, Germany's first photographer-owned photo agency, and later worked for major international publications such as Geo, Stern, Spiegel, and Time.
