Gerhard Bürger Stiftung

The Gerhard Bürger Stiftung is a German foundation established in 2013 to support science and research, art and culture, heritage preservation, education, vocational training, and student assistance. A central focus is preserving and developing the tradition of glassmaking through projects that bring together artists, students, universities, and glass specialists. The foundation works with the Glasmanufaktur Harzkristall and ELIAS Farbglashütte Lauscha to help turn creative ideas into glass projects.

Since 2016, it has organized student design competitions, including the Glass Design Award, which welcomes participants from design-oriented and creative courses. Its programs also support artists, university projects, workshops, and collaborations in glass design. Recent work includes Moving Mold, a project exploring how adjustable molds can expand the shapes and techniques possible in glassblowing. Supported projects are displayed in the gallery at Glasmanufaktur Harzkristall. The foundation invites students at European universities, lecturers, artists, and art associations working with glass to inquire about funding and project partnerships.
