The Caritas Gerontopsychiatric Service Munich South is a free counselling and support service for people aged 60 and over who are experiencing emotional distress or mental illness, as well as for their relatives and wider social networks. It also provides a point of contact for people returning home after a stay in a psychiatric hospital, seeking help with everyday concerns, or needing guidance with authorities and public services. Its services include counselling and intensively supported individual living for older adults with mental health conditions.
A multiprofessional team of social workers, psychologists, nursing professionals and administrative staff works together to support clients, with help from trainees and volunteers. The service is open to people of all nationalities and religious beliefs, and information shared with the team is confidential. Based at Garmischer Straße 211 in Munich, it serves several southern and central city districts and the municipality of Pullach.
The service is part of Caritas Munich and Upper Bavaria, and its work is funded by the District of Upper Bavaria and the City of Munich
