Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship Foundation

The Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship Foundation honors the legacy of Irish horseman Gerry Dilger by helping young people build careers in the thoroughbred industry. Established by his family and close friends after his death in 2020, the foundation continues his commitment to mentoring aspiring horse professionals. Dilger founded Dromoland Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1994, where he bred and consigned thoroughbreds and provided hands-on training and guidance to more than 65 young people.

The foundation offers scholarships and practical learning opportunities through partnerships with the Irish National Stud and prominent Kentucky horse farms. Its programs include placements on the Irish National Stud’s educational course, a Kentucky farm experience for eligible graduates of equine programs in Ireland, and a scholarship for an Irish citizen residing in Ireland to attend the National Stud’s breeding course. Eligibility varies by program and may include relevant farm experience or completion of specified studies. Through these opportunities, the organization aims to support professional development and pass on the horsemanship, knowledge, and values Gerry shared with those he mentored. It also provides application information and news about scholarship recipients and programs.
