Its service is designed to work even when an internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), without requiring router configuration, port forwarding, or special arrangements with the ISP. Encrypted VPN tunnels connect a customer’s server to GetPublicIP’s infrastructure, allowing the public IP to remain constant when the underlying network changes, including during 4G or 5G failover.
GetPublicIP states that it does not inspect or modify network packets, and that traffic travels unmodified through encrypted tunnels.
