Gewerbestiftung is a charitable foundation serving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Basel region. Established on 16 May 2014, it was created to address a lack of resources that can leave local businesses working alone and unable to fund shared initiatives. The foundation supports vocational education and continuing training for the next generation of professionals, and works to create and preserve jobs in the trades and commercial sector. It also promotes networking platforms and opportunities for professional exchange within the SME community.
Gewerbestiftung offers individuals and organisations ways to support this work through donations, including contributions designated for specific projects. It also enables people to direct inheritances and bequests toward the local business community, extending their commitment to the sector beyond their lifetime. When a contribution is not tied to a particular project, the foundation’s board decides how to allocate it in accordance with the foundation’s purpose.
