GFEU

GFEU e. V. is an association focused on advancing wastewater management and connecting research with practical application. Its work spans research, education, professional development and the exchange of expertise across the wastewater sector. The association supports practice-oriented research and the assessment and testing of wastewater treatment processes, equipment and devices. It also contributes to teaching for environmental technology fields, supports visiting researchers and technical professionals, and awards scholarships for scientific work.

GFEU organizes and promotes colloquia, seminars, conferences and opportunities for practitioners to share experience. A central activity is its involvement in the Northern German Colloquium on Wastewater Management, a recurring event held in collaboration with universities, public authorities, utilities and other organizations. The colloquium features current, practice-relevant topics, including micropollutants, hygiene and antimicrobial resistance, wastewater treatment, water reuse, rainwater management and sewer construction. GFEU also publishes the series “Hamburger Berichte zur Siedlungswasserwirtschaft,” providing a further channel for sharing knowledge in urban water management.
