Global Forum on Nicotine (GFN) is dedicated to promoting the use of less harmful nicotine delivery systems as an alternative to traditional tobacco products. With the aim of reducing smoking-related deaths, GFN encourages the transition towards safer and less addictive nicotine products. Founded in honor of the late Professor Michael Russell, a renowned psychiatrist and research scientist, this platform aims to advance knowledge and public policy action in the field of smoking behavior and tobacco harm reduction.
Professor Russell's groundbreaking work revolutionized our understanding of both the pharmacological and psychological aspects of tobacco smoking. His research led to the development of effective interventions and treatments to help smokers quit, significantly reducing tobacco-related morbidity and mortality globally. He advocated for the promotion of safer nicotine products over cigarettes to diminish health risks associated with ingesting non-nicotine toxins in burning tobacco.
GFN, organized by KAC-Communications, provides a global stage for public health debate, knowledge sharing, and networking. The conference, held annually, offers a platform for multi-sectoral engagement and inclusiveness in addressing the future of nicotine use and harm reduction
