Ghada Amer

Ghada Amer is an internationally recognized artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, ceramics, prints, installations, video, and outdoor gardens. A painter above all, Amer uses thread and needles as artistic tools, drawing on embroidery to challenge the male-dominated history of painting and explore themes of women, gender, and love. Her work also engages with political and social ideas, including through gardens designed to communicate conscious messages.
