Gillyflower Farm

Gillyflower Farm is a pioneering horticultural project on the slopes of the Fowey Valley in Cornwall. Its mission is to produce quality food commercially while restoring the land, supporting local wildlife, and building a healthier, more diverse and resilient ecosystem. Challenging conventional agriculture, the farm grows unusual, heritage and experimental crops, prioritising flavour and quality over uniformity and high yields.

Its productive orchard features 14 varieties of apple, including the Gillyflower, alongside cherries, gages and mulberries. The orchard helps create habitat for wildlife while supplying local markets and businesses with produce not commonly available elsewhere. In the potager garden, Gillyflower explores distinctive vegetable varieties and what can thrive in Cornwall’s changing climate.

The farm’s work combines crop experimentation with conservation, learning from both successes and failures to explore more environmentally harmonious approaches to commercial growing.
