Gimli Islandsheste

Gimli Islandsheste is an Icelandic horse breeding and training stable based in West Zealand, Denmark. Founded as a collaboration between Kimbel Kwaak and Romi Royé, the stable draws on their long-standing experience with Icelandic horses. Kimbel has more than 20 years’ experience in training and teaching, and has run a riding school and training and sales stable in the Netherlands. Romi has completed the Icelandic horse judging programme and has served as a judge.

Gimli breeds Icelandic horses with a focus on excellent gaits, rideability and good character, using selected stallions. The stable maintains broodmares and young horses, and regularly offers horses for sale. Its facilities include several hectares of grazing, a lunging round pen and a small oval track, supporting training and instruction for horses and riders at different levels. The team also has a particular interest in retraining, endurance work and equine fitness, including heart-rate monitoring. Related products are available through its webshop, Equinics, and the Gimli Heartrate resource provides further information about monitoring horse heart rates.
