Ginkan Judo School

Ginkan Judo School is a judo club based at 2 Joseph Street in Sidmouth, Tasmania, offering instruction for children, teens and adults. Its age- and skill-graded programs teach judo as a sport, martial art and recreational activity, with training that supports confidence, coordination, balance, fitness, strength, flexibility and self-preservation. Students learn throwing and holding techniques, groundwork, conditioning and free practice, with competition strategy included where appropriate.

Classes include sessions for girls and boys under 12, boys and girls under 14, women and girls under 17, seniors, and an open class for people of different fitness levels. Beginners are welcome to enquire and trial a session. The school also provides a first-class curriculum and information on judo history, uniforms, mat protocol, techniques, terminology, rules and grading requirements. Activities include grading, state training, competitions, randori and Go Kyo training, alongside community events and fundraising.
