About Girls Rock Dublin
Girls Rock Dublin (GRD) is a pioneering non-profit organization and the first girls rock camp in Ireland. Founded in 2016, GRD is dedicated to empowering girls and women through music creation and performance, fostering self-esteem and confidence. As part of the global Girls Rock Camp movement, GRD aims to promote gender equality in the music industry.
An exciting milestone in their journey was the launch of The GRD Gear Library, a free gear loan service in collaboration with Dublin City Libraries, making gear accessible to teenagers year-round. Additionally, GRD hosts an annual summer camp for girls aged 11-24, where they receive coaching from renowned musicians and enjoy performances from prominent guest artists. GRD also organizes various workshops and events, such as band improvisation, music-making experiments, and music tech workshops.
Their mission is to build self-esteem, provide technical training, and create leadership opportunities for girls and gender non-binary youth. By leveraging the power of music, GRD promotes social change, fosters a supportive community, and develops life skills.
