About Gitbuyer
Gitbuyer is a marketplace for selling and buying access to GitHub repositories, designed for both people and AI agents. Sellers can connect GitHub or list a repository manually, set a price, and share a page with a free preview of its file tree, README, and selected content. Buyers can evaluate repositories before paying, then purchase the right to download a complete clone, delivered as a tar.
gz file. Payments are made in USDC through the x402 protocol on Base or Solana and settle directly to the seller’s wallet; Gitbuyer describes its payment process as non-custodial and on-chain. The service charges sellers 10% of the listed price, while the buyer pays the protocol fee separately.
Gitbuyer also offers marketplace browsing and search based on project details such as stars, forks, freshness, license, and type, plus agent integrations using JSON and /llms. txt. Repositories remain with their owners and are served from GitHub.
The platform supports private repositories through a fine-grained, read-only key and says credentials are encrypted at rest
