Gitonga Everest 2022 Project is a not-for-profit initiative in Kenya that aims to inspire a generation to follow their dreams, explore the outdoors, and protect the environment. Led by Kenyan hiker and sustainability advocate, Gitonga Wandai, the project seeks to create a lasting legacy that promotes environmentalism and sustainability. In 2022, Gitonga Wandai plans to make the world's first net-zero carbon summit of Mount Everest, with the goal of inspiring positive change in Kenya and around the world.

Over the next 5 years, the Beyond Everest Project will fund and organize initiatives in partnership with local enterprises. These initiatives include planting over 10,000 trees in deforested areas, supporting a mentorship program for deaf children, and building a young hikers/climbing community. Gitonga's inspirational story has been captured in the award-winning documentary Gitonga and will be featured in a new film to be broadcast in Kenya and worldwide.
