GKG Plaidt

The Große Karnevalsgesellschaft Plaidt 1971 e.V. (G.K.G. Plaidt) is a carnival society dedicated to preserving and sharing Plaidt’s traditional carnival culture. The association traces organized carnival in the town to 1890 and brings members and visitors together through lively events, performances, and community activities. Its goal is to give people enjoyment and put smiles on their faces, while fostering a close-knit club community throughout the year.

G.K.G. Plaidt offers opportunities to take part on stage or support activities behind the scenes, with membership open to active and non-active participants. Its groups include children’s and youth guard teams, several dance and guard groups, Tanzmariechen and junior Tanzmariechen, a women’s guard, a citizens’ guard, and a committee. The society’s seasonal program features grand carnival sessions, children’s carnival, and other public celebrations, alongside member activities such as a carnival pub crawl, outings, and barbecue gatherings. Through its events and groups, G.K.G. Plaidt welcomes people of different ages to celebrate, participate, and help carry carnival traditions forward.
