Glad i skole

Glad i skole is a Danish support service for children and young people experiencing distress and involuntary school absence. Operating as part of SPR Specialpædagogisk Ressourceenhed, it provides holistic, special-educational and treatment-supporting assistance, tailored to each child’s needs. The service works closely with families, schools and municipalities to build a shared understanding of the child’s situation and coordinate practical support. Its approach focuses on restoring wellbeing, confidence and coping skills, while supporting gradual participation in the school community.

Glad i skole is led by founder Monette Rasmussen and draws on 24 years of experience in special-school settings. Its work includes animal-assisted interventions, using horses and dogs as supportive partners in learning and relationship-building. The animals can offer a calm, low-pressure setting for children who have experienced stress or difficulties with school and professional relationships. Glad i skole also offers supportive conversations for families, with attention to their perspectives, relationships and everyday circumstances.
