GLADEL, Latin American Group for the Study of Lupus, is a renowned initiative launched in 1997 by local rheumatologists. This international group consists of more than 50 research centers with experts in the field of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), spread across 12 Latin American countries. GLADEL's primary objective is to conduct multi-center studies on SLE patients in the region, aiming to deepen the understanding of the disease and its impacts on patients, physicians, and the community.

Their inclusive and enthusiastic philosophy welcomes the incorporation of new centers and countries as new projects arise. Since its inception, GLADEL has initiated the SLE inception cohort, which has successfully enrolled over 1400 patients. In 2002, GLADEL became the PANLAR Study group for Lupus, demonstrating the group's growth and expertise.
