Glancee

Glancee was a mobile app created to help people discover and connect with interesting individuals nearby. Founded in 2010, the company set out to bridge physical and digital experiences by revealing social connections users might otherwise miss. Its service focused on social discovery, helping people meet through shared proximity and encouraging spontaneous, in-person connections. Glancee reported connecting thousands of people and described its approach as a way to empower serendipity.

In May 2012, Facebook acquired Glancee, and its founders joined Facebook’s team in Menlo Park to work on products for the company’s users. The acquisition marked the end of Glancee as a standalone offering; the app is no longer available for download. Glancee’s story reflects an early effort to use mobile technology to make meeting new people and discovering nearby connections easier. The company was led by cofounders Andrea Vaccari, Alberto Tretti, and Gabriel Grise, with developers and advisors also contributing to its work.
