About Global Accounting Alliance
The Global Accounting Alliance (GAA) is a forum of 10 leading professional accountancy bodies whose members work in major capital markets. Formed in November 2005, it brings together more than 1.4 million members to advance a high-quality accounting profession and serve the public interest. Its member organizations span countries including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, South Africa, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
The GAA supports collaboration and information sharing among its members, engages with national and international stakeholders, and advocates on issues important to the profession. Its working groups address areas such as anti-money laundering, audit and assurance, education, ethics, sustainability and tax. The alliance also offers the GAA Passport, which may provide support to eligible members working temporarily in countries covered by the organization.
Through reports, guides and other resources, the GAA helps accountants and financial professionals respond to evolving challenges. Recent work explores connected corporate reporting, sustainability assurance, natural capital accounting and the profession’s role in sustainability-related issues.
