About People's Map of Global China
Global China Pulse (GCP) is a biannual, open-access journal examining China’s international engagements and their varied social, political, and cultural effects. As an initiative of the Global China Lab, it contributes to the wider field of Global China Studies through research, essays, and other scholarly content. The journal features work by contributors exploring how Chinese communities, capital, and global connections shape societies across regions, including Africa, South Asia, the Pacific, Europe, and China.
Its coverage includes themes such as labour, migration, industrialisation, dispossession, precarity, intimacy, gender, and sexuality. GCP highlights intersectional, queer, and feminist approaches, showing how these perspectives can deepen understanding of social change and knowledge production, particularly in the Global South. Readers can explore current and past issues, articles, essays, and online-first publications, as well as calls for papers and submission guidelines.
The journal is part of a broader set of Global China Lab projects, alongside Made in China Journal and The People’s Map of Global China, and publishes content under a Creative Commons non-commercial, no-derivatives licence
