Global Climbing Standard (GCS) is a digital platform designed to bring consistent, globally portable progression to indoor climbing. Its framework includes six structured stages, from Early Years through Stage 5, and assesses climbers across six skill domains: safety and risk awareness, movement and technique, equipment and systems, self-management, social skills, and personal progression. GCS offers a clear pathway for climbers, with digital tracking of milestones and credentials that can be recognised at GCS-accredited centres worldwide.
The platform serves climbers and parents, coaches and instructors, climbing centres, and regional partners. Coaches can deliver structured sessions, record progress, and build professional credentials, while parents can use a dashboard to follow a childβs development and session achievements in real time. Centres can apply for accreditation, train coaches, and offer GCS sessions as a structured programme. Regional partners can develop GCS in their territories with access to the platform, curriculum, and partnership support. For younger children, Early Years sessions begin around age four; progression through later stages is based on demonstrated readiness as well as age.
