About Global Weather & EAS Society
Global Weather & EAS Society, established on Facebook in August 2015, has evolved from its inception as Weather and EAS Community 2015 (WEC15) to its current identity. With a diverse membership of nearly 1,000 individuals worldwide, GWES has become a prominent figure in the EAS and weather community. The society offers various services, including the EAS Relay Network (GWES ERN) and the ERN Podcast, led by industry experts.
Recently, GWES revamped its leadership structure and branding to align with modern standards. Additionally, the society expanded its reach by launching a Mastodon instance for community engagement. Collaborating with the Iowa Environmental Mesonet and acquiring operations of the Nationwide Encoder Relay Program (NERP), GWES continues to enhance its offerings and provide a platform for EAS and weather enthusiasts to connect and stay informed.
