The German Alliance for Global Health Research (GLOHRA) is an association of researchers from publicly-funded research institutions in Germany. Sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), GLOHRA aims to strengthen global health research in Germany. GLOHRA is a proponent for interdisciplinary and collaborative global health research, addressing complex challenges such as neglected tropical diseases, antibiotic resistance, mental illness, and diabetes.
GLOHRA fosters exchange and cooperation across institutions, disciplines, sectors, and countries. Their goal is to strengthen global health research in Germany by connecting a community of qualified researchers, funding groundbreaking research projects and scientific events, supporting the next generation of researchers, and enhancing cross-sector collaboration. GLOHRA places high importance on collaborative efforts and transdisciplinarity.
Launched in 2020, GLOHRA receives funding from the BMBF, and since 2022, it has received additional funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) to strengthen cooperation with partners in low and middle-income countries
