About GSLEP
GSLEP, also known as the Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Program, is an exceptional alliance that brings together snow leopard range countries, NGOs, scientific institutions, and local communities. Their shared mission is to safeguard the snow leopard and its mountain ecosystems. The program operates through a structured approach, with specific goals and priorities.
They work towards achieving their goals by focusing on conservation initiatives, addressing the key threats faced by snow leopards, and promoting sustainable development in the region. GSLEP collaborates with key partners such as the Snow Leopard Trust, WWF, Wildlife Conservation Society, and United Nations Development Programme, among others, to implement their projects and drive change. With snow leopard habitats spread across countries like China, India, Mongolia, Nepal, and Pakistan, GSLEP is actively involved in protecting and conserving these regions.
Through their efforts, they aim to combat illegal wildlife trade, develop management strategies, and enhance scientific research and data collection. By fostering partnerships and collective action, GSLEP is making significant progress in securing a future for the snow leopard and preserving its crucial ecosystems
