About Global Trauma Project
Global Trauma Project (GTP) is a transformative brand that focuses on healing, empowerment, and transformation through training, mentorship, and certification of community providers. Their aim is to prevent and treat the impacts of complex trauma, compounded stress, and childhood adversity. Complex trauma refers to various adverse experiences that overwhelm an individual's ability to cope, such as sexual/gender-based violence, abuse, neglect, community violence, and historical slavery/genocide.
Compounded stress, on the other hand, refers to the excessive buildup of toxic stress that significantly affects a person's well-being and community. GTP operates in three key ways. Firstly, they have an Innovation Lab that supports national coalitions to strengthen and showcase best practices in mental health, psycho-social support, education, child development, and peace-building.
Secondly, they provide training and program development support to NGOs and UN agencies to reduce the impacts of stress and adversity among staff, volunteers, and communities. Lastly, GTP network partners offer high-quality wellness services for individuals, families, and communities in Kenya, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. GTP utilizes an evidence-based framework called Trauma-Informed Community Empowerment (TICE) to support local providers, including community leaders, child protection staff, teachers, police, coaches, and community health workers.
Their approach ensures that those working with challenging issues receive adequate support to make the greatest impact. Led by professionals with extensive experience in trauma and community development, GTP is committed to building capacity, raising awareness, and fostering healing and resilience in communities affected by trauma
