About Global Trees
The Global Trees Campaign was an impactful initiative dedicated to securing the future of the world's threatened tree species. Operated as a partnership between Fauna & Flora and Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), this campaign spanned two decades, focusing on the in situ conservation of over 400 tree species across more than 50 countries. The primary goal of the campaign was to ensure the survival of these vital species for the benefit of both people and wildlife, addressing the urgent need for biodiversity conservation.
Through its efforts, the Global Trees Campaign not only contributed to the protection of essential tree species but also played a crucial role in raising awareness about their significance. It fostered capacity building within communities and organizations dedicated to environmental preservation. Although the campaign has concluded, the legacy of its work continues through the ongoing efforts of Fauna & Flora and BGCI in advancing tree conservation globally. Their respective websites provide further insights into their lasting commitment to protecting threatened trees.
