Gloves for Tess is a nonprofit organization founded by the Mata family in memory of Tess Marie Mata and in honor of her love of softball. Tess enjoyed spending time with family and friends, learning TikTok dances, and cheering for the Houston Astros. She played second base, inspired by José Altuve and her older sister, Faith, and taught herself to pitch as she worked toward making a Little League all-star team. Tess was killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022.

The organization carries forward Tess’s passion for softball and baseball by providing quality gloves to children in need. Its mission is to help children pursue their interests and reach their full potential, regardless of their circumstances. Donations support the purchase of gloves; a $100 donation provides one child with a quality glove. Gloves for Tess invites supporters to help make the game more accessible to young players and honor Tess’s spirit through opportunities for children to play.
