Fasnachtsclique Glunggi 1966 is a Basel community dedicated to celebrating and preserving the traditions of Basler Fasnacht. Guided by the motto “Everyone is themselves, and together we are Glunggi,” the clique brings individual talents together through music, creativity and shared activities. Its three groups welcome members at different stages of life: the Junge Garde, including Binggis, invites children from age seven to discover carnival and learn an instrument; the Stamm offers an open setting for musical, creative and social participation; and the Alte Garde provides a place for fellowship, exchange and enjoyment.
Glunggi’s activities extend beyond carnival season, with gatherings and events throughout the year that strengthen camaraderie. Members can take part in rehearsals, performances, parades and other carnival events, and explore the clique’s repertoire, annual programme and history. The group also maintains a welcoming clubhouse, the Glunggi-Keller, at Bäumleingasse 7 in central Basel, serving as a year-round meeting place for planning and socialising.
