About Gates GMSP Scholars
Gates GMSP Scholars is a brand that aims to promote academic excellence, provide opportunities, and reduce financial barriers for 20,000 outstanding students of color. As part of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMSP), their goal is to help students reach their fullest potential by offering them access to higher education. The program, funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 and has been tremendously successful in supporting African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students.
Through collaborative efforts with partner organizations, Gates GMSP Scholars offers a range of services and resources, including academic empowerment, mentoring, and an online resource center for internship, fellowship, and scholarship information. With a retention rate among Gates Scholars well above average, the program strives to empower and develop the next generation of diverse leaders who will contribute to building a stronger society
