About GNET
The Global Network on Extremism and Technology (GNET) is an academic research network focused on understanding how terrorists and violent extremists use technology. It serves as the research arm of the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) and is based at King’s College London. GNET brings research and discussion to audiences interested in the intersection of extremism, technology, policy, and online safety.
Through its website, GNET shares insights, reports, research, infographics, podcasts, and special series on topics including youth radicalisation, climate change and extremism, terrorist financing, gender and online violent extremism, and extremist responses to major events. Its coverage also examines emerging issues such as online subcultures of violence, platform moderation, gaming spaces, and the crime-terror nexus. GNET hosts conferences and webinars, and invites contributors to write for its platform. It also supports researchers through resources focused on researcher wellbeing and offers a monthly newsletter for updates on its work. Together, these activities help inform understanding of the evolving relationship between technology and extremist activity.
